| We've been doing this a long time, and understand
that you may be new at planning birthday parties. Here are a few frequently
asked questions to set your mind at ease.
We're planning on inviting
some boys to our princess party. Will they feel included?
More than half the princess parties we do have boys invited. Most of
our activities are fun for both boys and girls (i.e. boys LOVE to have
their faces painted as Spiderman or a Monster), and we have never had
much of a problem with boys not feeling included. It's more common for
the boys to get "crushes" on the princesses!
Boys are usually not interested in tea parties, and our dress-up trunk
is very girly, but magic, balloon animals, storytelling, face painting,
songs, bubbles - most of our activities - are enjoyed by the boys just
as much as the girls... until the boys turn 7 or 8. Then they often
won't be caught dead near a princess. :)
If you're still concerned that they won't enjoy the party, you might
consider adding a "Prince Charming" character along with your princess
to keep them happy fighting with balloon swords or doing something
equally manly while the girls enjoy the Princess' company.
What are your rates? I can't
seem to find them anywhere on the website?
Our rate structure is hourly and it varies based on the entertainer,
the city you're in, and the length of time you want to book. Also,
one or two of the activities come at an additional charge (e.g. crafts).
Because of all these factors, it's hard to give a price without knowing
a few details!
In general, our prices range from $169 for an hour to $239 for an
hour, with a discounted rate after the first hour, and a discounted
rate for additional entertainers. The prices we give you are the
bottom line - there is no sales tax or other "hidden" costs.
To get a customized rate-quote, fill out our rate
request form and we'll get back to you as soon as we can!
How far in advance do I need to book
a party?
We start booking more than a month in advance, but we can often handle
requests for just a few days away. To get your first choice of times
and characters, it's best to give 3-4 weeks lead-time.
Our busiest times tend to be Saturdays at around lunchtime. Sundays
are usually a little more open, and evenings and weekdays have more
availability too.
Call us at (510) 367-4517 or fill out the rate
request form to find out our availability.
Umm.. I don't mean to be rude
but.. how old are your Princesses?
All of our Princess entertainers are in their 20's (or very young
30's), and they're all beautiful! The photos on the website are all
recent photos, and are often the actual Princess you'll get at your
party - and more photos are available via email of the different entertainers
in their Princess dresses. Just ask and we'll send them over!
What do I need to set up for
the entertainer?
Our entertainers come prepared with everything they need to keep your
kids entertained for the whole time they're there. We almost always
come with more activities than you specify so that we're prepared to
make sure the kids have fun no matter what the circumstances.
If you choose crafts, we ask that you provide access to a sink and
some table space.
If you choose face painting, we ask that you provide a corner of a
table and 2 chairs (one for the entertainer and one for the child being
painted). While face painting is one of our most popular activities,
it does take 2-3 minutes per child, so it might be a good idea to
have some coloring pages or another activity to help keep those waiting
their turns occupied - our face painting is fantastic and takes most
of our attention so it's tough to keep control of the other children
during this time.
Do you
have a party location?
We don't have a party location - our entertainers come to you! We have
done parties in parks, community centers, homes, businesses and churches
(just to name a few places) and we have great ideas about where to host
your party if you're not sure where you'd like to have it.
I don't see the character
I want on your website. Do you have any that aren't listed?
Most of our characters are on the web site, but we're always adding
new stuff - if you have a request, don't hesitate to ask us! Given enough
lead-time we can usually accommodate requests.
However, all our characters are human - we don't do "big-head"
characters (i.e. Scooby Doo, Spongebob, Elmo, etc) because we've found
that most small children are terrified of them.
What is your cancellation
policy?
We require a $50 deposit to book a show. This deposit is non-refundable
in the event that you need to cancel the show for any reason. However,
we do understand that kids get sick or other emergencies arise - so
if you need to reschedule the party (anytime within the next 2-3 weeks)
we will transfer your deposit.
What's the best way to
contact you with my questions?
We are in the office during business hours most days. The best way
to reach us is by phone at (510) 367-4517 or via email at erin@firepixie.com.
We try to respond as soon as we can, but we're generally a little quicker
at returning phone calls than emails. If you don't hear from us in a
day or two, please feel free to call again - we're probably swamped!
